We are seeking a Formulation Scientist to drive end-to-end hair product development and new launches, combining strong technical expertise, consumer understanding, and execution excellence.

This role involves owning the full development lifecycle—from formulation to scale-up and commercialization—while collaborating effectively across functions. The ideal candidate brings a solution-oriented mindset, strong delivery focus, proactive task and risk management, and effective stakeholder communication to successfully land projects in market.

A Day in the Life

As a Formulation Scientist in our Mumbai R&I hub, you will drive the end-to-end development of hair innovations. This role owns the full development lifecycle—from formulation to scale-up and commercialization—while collaborating effectively across functions. You will act as the bridge between consumer needs, technical feasibility, and industrial realities, ensuring our projects land successfully in the market.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Lead Innovation & Development: Translate marketing briefs into differentiated, high-performing hair product formulations. You will manage all critical aspects of development, ensuring the right balance across performance, stability, cost, and regulatory compliance.
• Integrate Consumer Insights: Develop consumer-centric formulas by integrating insights on hair types, habits, and regional preferences. You will collaborate with Marketing and Consumer Insights teams to ensure products deliver superior, perceivable benefits.
• Drive Lab-to-Market Execution: Design robust and scalable formulations, supporting pilot batches and plant trials for a smooth industrial transfer. You will take full ownership of project milestones to ensure on-time, in-full delivery.
• Collaborate for Success: Work closely with Global hubs, Packaging, Operations, Regulatory, and Marketing teams to ensure seamless execution. Your clear communication will influence stakeholders and enable timely decision-making.
  
  

We Are Looking For

We are looking for an ideal candidate who combines strong technical expertise with excellent execution skills.

• You hold a Master’s or Bachelor's in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science, or a related field.
• You have proven 4+ years of experience in product development, with hands-on experience in developing, optimizing, and scaling up formulations, preferably within the FMCG or cosmetics industry.
• You have a strong delivery mindset, are highly solution-oriented, and proactively manage projects and risks to ensure successful outcomes.
• You are an effective communicator, capable of influencing cross-functional stakeholders and presenting technical data in a clear, impactful manner.
• You have prior experience working with cross-functional teams and managing project timelines and milestones.
