What You Will Do:
The Director, Creative is responsible for leading the ideation, adaptation, development, design and execution of all retail/stores/chains point of sale creative as well as print asset needs for Matrix, Biolage, Pureology, Mizani, Pulp Riot and L’Oreal Technique US. He/she must constantly keep the customer experience as a top priority while strategically and conceptually leading and executing the brand experience from the smallest detail to the biggest picture. The Director, creative is responsible for ensuring every consumer touch point is in line with the DMI brand charter under the creative direction of the AVP, Creative.
What We Are Looking For:
Required Qualifications:
· College degree (BFA, BA, or AAS) in visual arts or other creative fields preferred. High school diploma required.
· 8+ years creative or related field experience, preferably with beauty industry
· 8+ years of experience in branding and design with a focus on print, retail creative and physical spaces
· 2+ years Art Direction experience (managing and directing 1-2 Designers) and external agencies
· Design in 2D and 3D for retail environments and print collaterals
· Adapt global design standard to meet US specific market needs, including the design of Sephora, Ulta and Salon Centric store fixtures
· Partner with Visual Merchandiser to design and develop retail environments including signage, fixtures and wholesale pop ups
· Lead the design process and understanding the brand needs
· Ensure all retail build outs meet cost and business objectives
· Drive print and retail innovation based on current US market trends
· Plan and anticipate brand needs for key retailer meetings
· Continue to optimize, streamline, and evolve the creative process and brand visuals through retail and wholesale while aligning to the DMI brand charter
· Responsible for brand touchpoints in a physical space such as printed collateral and retail location marketing
· Help strategize new opportunities and improvements to the consumer experience
· Deep understanding of structural design, printing, materials and manufacturing process
· Manage and oversee day to day management of designer and external agencies, retailers,
· Candidate must have thorough knowledge of the creative process, including practical implementation in order to effectively gauge workloads and deadline expectations.
· Solid understanding of visual design fundamentals and how to execute them
· Strong organizational and project management skills
· Strong ability to plan and proactively anticipate project needs
· Ability to make quick decisions, problem solve and multi-task
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills required to effectively manage relationships with diverse international internal and external contacts
· Ability to communicate ideas quickly, clearly and effectively across multiple departments
· Excellent written/oral communication skills
· Exceptional craftsmanship skills and attention to detail
· Proficiency in Adobe Creative suite (MAC-based), Advanced AutoCAD, Sketch Up and or other rendering software
· Great typography skills
· Computer literacy on Windows, iOS, MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Knowledge of the fashion and beauty business preferred
· Multiple language skills are a plus.
