Section 2:             Job Summary


Atelier Cologne is a new perfume brand within the Designer Fragrances group of the L’Oreal Luxe Division at L’Oreal USA.  The Director of Retail Sales oversees the overall operations and sales performance of our 5 Free Standing Atelier Cologne Boutiques. They develop and execute strategic retail store plans to achieve retail sales budgets and increase profitability. The Director collaborates with business partners to develop business drivers that will result in increases for traffic and sales performance in the boutiques. They will also oversee and drive inventory flow, P&P, and processing/fulfillment team for eCommerce.


Section 3:             Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Free Standing Boutique Sales Performance

  • Develop a selling culture and promote client loyalty and excellent experiences
  • Represent brand DNA in all selling, operational and marketing processes
  • Deliver optimal productivity in stores through operational excellence, process improvement and consistent resolution of challenges
  • Create and drive animation calendar for in-store events and collaborations
  • Compile, analyze and plan statistics for business reports and projections
  • Oversee Inventory Management via physical inventory, strong partnerships with Marketing, Replenishment Analyst, and Sales Development on allocation, OH level and weekly orders
  • Own and manage all aspects of Retail Operations with a client-first mentality and an intense focus on client service, sales growth, and brand standards
  • Assess business trends and actively collaborate with cross functional partners in order  to strategize retail growth and drive business initiatives
  • Deliver solutions to grow based on customer needs
  • Analyze key performance metrics and provide guidance to achieve goals and profitability targets
  • Accountable for controllable cost versus plan and the identification of continuous improvement opportunities

Free Standing Boutique Staff/Team Management:

  • Work closely with Store Managers to recruit, select, train, develop and retain a high performing and diverse sales team
  • Motivate store teams and develop community in stores
  • Ensure compliance on all policies, standards and values

eCommerce Management:

  • Partner with eCommerce to support animation/CRM Calendar
  • Consistent communication with analyst regarding sales data, inventory flow to understand needs, and issues to  create resolutions for eCommerce


  • This position requires some travel due to 2 Free Standing Boutique locations in San Francisco, CA and eCommerce operations based in one of these remote locations.

Section 5:  Experience Requirements

  • 7+ years’ experience in fragrance or retail management
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Knowledge and awareness of beauty/fragrance industry, market, and competitive trends
  • Self-motivated, results oriented, creative thinker
  • Good negotiation, communication and organizational skills with an analytical approach to identifying opportunities
  • Aptitude to thrive a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Moderate supervision required for this position. Decisions will have an impact on success of Free Standing Boutique sales and operations.

Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
