Role Overview:

As a Junior Data Engineer/ Scientist, you'll be a valued member of our Data & Analytics team, gaining valuable experience in designing, developing, and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers L'Oréal Deutschland GmbH and beyond. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers and diverse teams to ensure data quality, optimize data flows, and contribute to innovative solutions that drive reporting, analysis, and AI initiatives.

This role requires a flexible and mobile mindset – you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with teams across various L'Oréal departments and locations within the EU. You should be open to potentially relocating temporarily to other European locations for project assignments. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential for success in this fast-paced, collaborative environment.


Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Building Data Pipelines: Work alongside senior engineers to develop and maintain robust data pipelines and ETL processes, ensuring seamless data flow across L'Oréal's ecosystem.
  • Learn Data Preparation Techniques: Gain hands-on experience in cleansing, preparing, and harmonizing data from diverse sources, including raw and unstructured data, to support reporting and analytics projects.
  • Colaborate on Data Solutions: Contribute to the design and development of technical database structures and models alongside divisional teams, ensuring data accessibility and usability.
  • Support Data Quality Initiatives: Participate in efforts to maintain high data quality and stable data flows, including assisting with incident management and resolution.
  • Explore Automation Techniques: Assist in the development and maintenance of technical automation solutions, learning best practices for optimizing efficiency and scalability.
  • Develop Documentation Skills: Contribute to the creation of comprehensive documentation for data sources, pipelines, and flows, promoting transparency and knowledge sharing.
  • Engage in Cross-Functional Teamwork: Work closely with IT teams across divisions to understand data requirements, contribute to solution implementation, and ensure seamless integration.
  • Gain Project Management Exposure: Participate in projects related to data acquisition and integration into Data/BI solutions, gaining valuable experience in project management methodologies.


Your Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education: Recent graduate with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Fundamentals: Basic understanding of relational databases and cloud technologies.
    • Programming: Familiarity with Python and SQL.
    • Microsoft Ecosystem: Exposure to the Microsoft technology stack (Power BI, Power Platform, SharePoint) is a plus.
  • Eagerness to Learn: Strong desire to expand your knowledge and skills in data engineering, cloud technologies, and related areas.
  • Problem-Solving & Communication: Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach to finding solutions. Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal) are essential. Proficiency in German is highly advantageous.
  • Team Player & Mobile Mindset: Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment and willingness to relocate temporarily within the EU for project assignments.
