ABOUT THE JOB
L’Oréal Malaysia & Singapore (“the Entity”) is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel responsible for leading, promoting, coordinating and monitoring the following key pillars in close collaboration with teams at the Entity, Zone & Group level:
- Data Privacy
- AI & Information Technology
- Digital, E-Commerce
- Risk & Compliance
YOUR ROLE
Reporting to the General Counsel MYSG (with functional reporting to the SAPMENA Zone DPO), you will be responsible for the following:
A. Promote, Coordinate and Monitor Data Privacy Compliance Across the Entity
- Support, coordinate & implement Data Privacy programs rolled out by Zone and Group.
- Conduct regular assessments of programs and projects within the Entity, ensuring resources are allocated to remediate identified gaps.
- Deliver training sessions on data privacy policies and procedures to internal teams.
- Partner with various functions (IT, Digital, Retail, Marketing, Operations, HR) to ensure data privacy compliance & the robust implementation of privacy programs.
- Perform Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new projects and initiatives.
- Coordinate any data privacy related issues in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor data privacy compliance across the Entity (e.g., periodic audits, data registers, contracts, consent management, data subject requests)
B. Lead and Strategize Topics under the Risk & Compliance Portfolio
- Report regularly to the Management Committee on the regulatory evolutions and risk exposure across the Entity.
- Provide strategic guidance on structuring, documenting and conducting due diligence for commercial activities to ensure business compliance.
- Collaborate with internal teams to establish and optimize compliant systems and processes.
- Update the Data Privacy & Compliance Community on the evolution of local regulations and compliance topics.
C. Develop and animate Data Privacy, Risk & Compliance Program within the Entity
- Train and mentor Data Privacy Champions within the Entity.
- Facilitate and lead legal & compliance trainings for the Entity.
- Provide practical, actionable guidance and updates on Data Privacy & Compliance topics.
YOUR PROFILE
- A qualified lawyer with at least 10 years’ Post-Qualification Experience (PQE).
- Extensive experience managing legal compliance, data privacy, technology, digital/e-commerce laws and practices in Malaysia & Singapore.
- Able to coordinate among key stakeholders and manage relationships across multiple organizational levels.
- Strategic project management skills with focus on timely delivery.
- Comfortable engaging with and advising senior management.
- Exceptional analytical skills and high attention to detail.
- Self-starting ‘can do’ attitude, excellent communications and time management skills.
- Growth and solution-driven mindset, open to exploring creative ways of working and embracing legal tech in daily operations.
- Able to work proactively with different stakeholders & initiate solutions.
- Strong awareness of online / digital / AI business trends with the ability to clarify processes for stakeholders.
