Job Summary – NYX Demand/Supply Planning Director

The US S&OP Director will partner with Sales, Marketing, Operations and Finance to develop an accurate demand forecast for NYX Professional Makeup.  Accountable to provide focus and integration of data from Marketing, Sales, Customer Marketing, and Finance. Ensure consistency of forecast assumptions across the business unit, including base business trends, promotional plans, new launch volumes, planogram changes and seasonal volume.

Also manage the Supply Planning team to identify and resolve changes in the forecast and their impact on the supply chain. Work closely with Global Operations team to drive NYX PMU Supply and Procurement planning for the US. Gather and incorporate all sources of market intelligence to produce the best possible operational forecast. Update and monitor process key performance indicators and diagnostics to ensure continual forecast improvement efforts and prepare written analyses, documentation, reports or other data of a quality requiring minimal supervisory review.

The position will be responsible for the overall management of demand/supply for US NYX PMU (demand trending, procurement planning, and inventory health). Provide guidance / oversight of SKU level forecasts, to ensure alignment with business direction and consistency with market trends. Communicate demand forecast plans and the assumptions behind them through the supply chain. 

This individual has to be able to provide leadership, coaching, and technical expertise in order to improve the design and performance of the entire end-to-end supply chain. This role will also play a critical role in continuing to build and improve the collaboration with the business teams.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in the area of Supply Chain, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, or other quantitative business discipline).  Other business degrees considered with significant supply chain experience.
  • Minimum 8 years work experience preferably within a FMCG industry; minimum of 5-7 years forecasting experience
  • Software Skills: Proficiency with MS Office required, strong MS Excel required, advanced Excel helpful; experience with a forecast modeling tool preferred,  e.g. Logility or FuturMaster;  SAP experience helpful
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Use of quantitative methods to analyze situations and solve business problems

  • Must have ability to work cross functionally, build relationships and excel in a team environment

Business acumen/sound judgment essential.  Position has a significant impact on the operating results of the business unit.  Must be able to quickly grasp the various dimensions of business issues.  Must be able to make sense out of complexity, deal with uncertainty and understand the implications of a decision on all affected parts of the business unit.

  

Tasks, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team
  • Develop accurate demand forecasts for brand, SKU, and account levels, while reducing inventory/working capital, and minimizing forecast variability
  • Facilitate consensus meetings with Sales, Marketing, Finance and Market Supply Logistics to ensure business objectives are achieved
  • Ability to animate and/or articulate the demand for a brand or per account base on different business scenarios (door plan, POG, promo plan, launches, etc.)
  • Collaboratively work with peers within division to drive risk and opportunity assessment, SKU rationalization, and business analytics
  • Develop strong working knowledge of marketing/sales/customer business plans to validate forecast and accurately reflect business plan alignment
  • Ensure that appropriate forecasting processes and methods are being followed and updated as needed.  Maintain forecast system data integrity.  Perform ad hoc analyses, as required, in support of contingency/scenario planning
  • Responsible for the overall coordination and optimization of supply chain information
  • Overall management of existing planning cycle to ensure proper flow of demand and production signals
  • Partner with other Functional Teams to assess and define viability of new product introductions and associated supply chain impacts
  • Ensure proper timely communication of product availability risk for on-going products and new product launches to local domestic customers as well as international affiliates
  • Works with global and local business teams to drive optimization of product catalog
