Director – Search (SEO & SEM)

JOB SUMMARY

The Search (SEO & SEM) Director will set the vision for search marketing for the Luxury division at L’Oreal USA.  The Search Director will focus on realizing and creating synergy between SEO and SEM through proven methodologies.  The Director serves as the key digital subject matter expert to lead this critical acquisition channel and upskill the Luxury division in search. In addition, the Director will oversee the roadmap of internal digital business intelligence tools supporting search marketing.  We are looking for an analytical, consumer-focused professional who is a skilled communicator and has a proven track record of building and scaling search strategies, ideally across a portfolio of brands.

KEY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop and implement effective search engine optimization (SEO) strategies
  • Ensure sites have best-in-class SEO and upskill brands to grow organic share of voice
  • Coordinate content, design, pay-per-click (PPC/SEM) marketing and other activities
  • Optimize ad copy, website content, landing pages and search copy
  • Identify, test, and scale search innovation pilots (e.g., visual search)
  • Manage offsite and onsite optimization projects and reporting on performance
  • Champion mobile-first mentality and execute strategies that drive conversion
  • Keep abreast of search and integrated marketing trends
  • Guide departmental search budget allocations
  • Set, analyze, and optimize KPIs for operational and executive reporting
  • Manage a team of SEO Specialists and Developers
  • Manage 3rd party vendor and agency relationships
  • Partner with CRM leads and data analysts to define segmentation strategies and multi-touch consumer journeys
  • Partner with IT and brands to deliver websites with best-in-class performance

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Entrepreneurially spirited; strong work ethic and customer-driven
  • Highly organized with proven multi-tasking ability and extensive project management experience
  • Ability to build successful relationships at all levels of the organization and cross-functionally to staff with varying levels of technical expertise
  • Ability to effectively present information to an individual or group, both written and verbally
  • Strong ability to develop business cases and communicate key value propositions succinctly to a broad group of leaders
  • Marketing experience including experience with channel marketing, consumer or business marketing program development and execution
  • Solid understanding of eCommerce and high volume online retail businesses
  • Deep organic search knowledge of search measurement tools (eg. Brightedge, SEMRush, Ahrefs, MOZ, Screaming Frog, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of Google AdWords and Bing Ads
  • Experience with enterprise level platforms such as Demandware, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Salesforce Marketing Cloud and BazaarVoice.
  • Expert analytics, MVT & BI software knowledge (Google Analytics, Domo, Tableau, Optimize) 
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS
  • BS/BA degree required
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience
  • Paid media and/or relational database development (SQL) experience is a plus
  • Affinity and relevant experience in beauty and personal care brands is a plus
