Overall Mission to work with Development, R&I, Marketing/Product Development, Regulatory & Raw Material Purchasing in order to optimize the costs and secure of our formulas through: the correct choice of RMs at the conception stage, the prioritization of RM diversification, the coordination with R&I, RMP and MRKTN on Formula Optimization projects.  Manage Regulatory change communication for brands with US DMIs from Paris to be communicated to local teams, with clear follow-up and communication back to Paris.  Coordinate a clear reform process across Development to ensure all reforms are tracked and communication handoff is clear to Developer to ensure on-time phase in.


Cost Avoidance: Formula Optimization in New Launches

  • Identifies key new launches for formula optimization  with the collaboration of Development Métier Heads and the DMI
  • Identify top cost drivers and work with RAI & RM PUR teams to help reduce, where applicable
  • Formalizes, tracks, supports, and provides a Formula Optimization Report to the Head of LUXE Development

Value Analysis of Existing Formulas: seeks for opportunities to provide cost reduction, through

  • Analysis to identify expensive raw materials and determine the basis of the cost (geography, availability…etc)
  • Identifies raw materials that can be replaced at lower costs or can be reduced or be removed completely from the formula
  • Proposes Value Analysis changes to R&I or MRKTN (as needed)
  • Formalizes, tracks, supports, and provides a Formula Optimization Report to the Head of LUXE Development


  • Track regulatory changes that require reformulations and ensure communication handoff to proper teams.
  • Train teams on reform process overall across all of Development
  • Spearhead relationship with RAI across brands to ensure a clear communication process when reforms are coming, along with key dates
  • Work with appropriate Development teams with ongoing communication to ensure on-time execution.


  • US point of contact for all US brands for the LUXE division
  • Escalate upcoming regulatory changes to Department Head and decide on action plan to alert relevant parties
  • Coordinate relevant information across brands, plant, and supply chain to communicate back to the request.  Ensure clear and complete communication back to the Regulatory Development team in Paris.

Provide visibility of new launch CL ingredients and volumes to RM Purchasing. 

Supports Raw Material Diversification strategy

  • Provides technical support in diversification efforts
  • Regularly works with RM Purchasing to understand strategy to help communicate to the brand

Supports change management in existing formulas due to RM crisis

  • Provides support to developers and plants, as needed
  • Provides business context to RM Purchasing team and elevate to brand General Manager of business risks

Helps Developers increase their knowledge level of formulation and manufacturing 

  • Provides basic training on formulations and manufacturing methods of operations
  • Supports Developers in specific formulation  topics as needed
  • Coordinates and manages formula related requests, such as benchmarking studies and like-as formula technologies
  • Represents the department in the R&I/Operations Quarterly Optimization Meeting between R&I, RMP, Plants, and CIQ Pilot
  • Overall process improvement: look for improvement opportunities on formula development across cross-functional teams to identify efficiencies and ensure the support of business needs.
  • Key representative of DGO initiatives around formula on behalf of department


  • 8+ years of experience in proven Quality or Formulation work, preferably in the cosmetics, or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline a plus
  • Travel to vendors and plants will be a requirement (10-15% of time)
  • Proficient PC skills - Proficient in the use of MS Project. MS Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint) and capable of building presentations in Excel and/or PowerPoint. 
  • High Proficiency in communication skills (written & verbal), to be able to deal effectively with all levels of our organization AND our suppliers organizations.
  • Good organizational skills to manage the documentation, materials and information as needed on each project.
  • Must be team oriented and able to create strong relationships with all cross-functional teams.
  • French Language skill is a plus
